Thank you for your consideration of donating to the Mark Alexander Baranowski Memorial Foundation. We are very excited to be in our 16th year as a foundation. We have donated over $165,000.00 to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) during our tenure, and look forward to adding to that total this year. With your help, the foundation can meet our goals and continue to help these children with life altering sicknesses.
Alex was born on September 9, 1981 at Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg. Alex was born with a congenital heart defect. At the age of twenty-one months and again at the age of four and a half, he had groundbreaking heart surgeries lead by at the University of Alabama Heart Hospital in Birmingham, AL. These surgeries allowed him to live a full and healthy childhood. In 2001, Alex had open heart surgery at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Under the care of Dr. Mitch Cohen and Dr. Ron Tenale, he was given another four years. Alex’s battle with his heart condition ended in February of 2005. He will always be remembered for his loving heart, warm personality, and his supportive and giving nature.
We carry on Al’s legacy every day through our actions, and, once a year, the foundation puts on the annual Al B. Open Golf Tournament in his honor.
